An Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) is a healthcare provider that has completed a 4 year dentistry degree followed by a post graduate hospital-based surgical residency training program This postgraduate training includes rotations in anesthesiology and internal medicine, general surgery, trauma, plastic surgery , and ear, nose, and throat surgery. Some OMFS may participate in extra training as well.
